Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot and company CFO Frederick Duguet responded to criticism of the recent gameplay of the open-world action-adventure Star Wars Outlaws.

Let us remind you that a 10-minute video of Star Wars Outlaws, which comes out in a month and a half, published by IGN the other day, left viewers with mixed impressions: the video collected 18 thousand dislikes and half as many likes.

The game suffers from performance and AI issues, as well as low-quality visuals. The criticism was so harsh that it caught the attention of a Bank of America analyst, who raised the issue on a Ubisoft conference call.

When asked if Ubisoft might delay the release of Star Wars Outlaws amid criticism, Duguay recalled that the game has already gone gold and is preparing for release on August 30, and promised to show “very high quality” content for the game in the near future.

While Ubisoft isn’t shy about delaying games with a confirmed release date (they did it twice with Skull and Bones), it won’t go that route with Star Wars Outlaws. Let’s hope that the next showing of the game will be more impressive.

Star Wars Outlaws is being created for PC (Ubisoft Connect), PS5, Xbox Series X and S. Although the official release date of the game is August 30, owners of premium editions will have access three days earlier.
