“Trust us”: Okami 2 developers shared the first details of the sequel of the legendary adventure game

The announcement of the award ceremony The Game Awards 2024 continuing the legendary adventure game Okami from Capcom left a lot of questions behind. Some of them are responsible for the new IGN exclusive material.

Recall that Okami 2 is created under the guidance of the director of the first game of Hideki Kamiya (Hideki Kamiya) by the joint efforts of the Clovers, M-Two and Machine Head Works studio, including members of the original development team.

In an interview with IGN, Kamia, the producer of Capcom, Yoshiaki Hirabayashi and the producer of Machine Head Works, Kihiko Sakata shared the first details of the continuation of Okami.

Okami 2 will be a direct continuation of the first part. According to Hirabayashi, Capcom has always sought to make a sequel, but before the departure of Kamiya from Platinumgames in the fall of 2023 there was no real opportunity for this.

«In my head there is an approximate idea of ​​the main topic. I have been thinking it over for several years and I want to get up to work to visualize it for fans. I also have a detailed idea of ​​what I want to see the game, ”Camia shared.

Despite the failed start, as a result, the total sales of all Okami versions exceeded 4.7 million copies

The development of Okami 2 started in 2025 and is at a “very, very” early stage. The game is created on the RE Engine (Resident Evil, Dragon’s Dogma 2) – according to Capcom, only it will make the “artistic dreams of Kamiya”.
