“This is how I remembered it 20 years ago”: the blogger showed 40 minutes of gameplay of the Need for Speed: Most Wanted remake and comparison with the classic game

Blogger NostalgiaNexus published a full 40 minutes of gameplay of the unofficial remake of the cult racing arcade Need for Speed: Most Wanted, as well as a comparison of his project with the original game.

The 52-minute video released recently by NostalgiaNexus shows the progress of the fan remake of NFS: Most Wanted compared to the March show, as well as behind the scenes work with Unreal Engine 5.

The main improvement over the past almost five months has been the addition of police AI to the remake – law enforcement officers are now trying to arrest the offender. The video shows the gameplay, including the maximum level of the chase.

Police AI in the remake still needs some work

For the new demo, NostalgiaNexus improved the sounds of the BMW M3 GTR (now the audio is as close as possible to the original game), added sound effects from the Xbox 360 version, and tightened up even more textures using AI.

In addition, the blogger reduced the intensity of the “yellow filter,” which made the lighting more organic, but moved the visual style of the remake away from the classic Need for Speed: Most Wanted.

There is no release date yet for the fan remake of NFS: Most Wanted

The comparison compares views of Rockport from the new and old versions. Despite the obvious lack of some visual touches, the remake still impresses viewers. “That’s how I remembered her 20 years ago,” admitted norphes3865.

NFS: Most Wanted was released in November 2005 and earned cult status. According to Simone Bailly, who played Sergeant Cross’s assistant, the project is expecting an official remake in 2024, but there is no confirmation of this yet.
