The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered lead artist Dan Lee has drawn attention to Skyblivion, a fan remake of Oblivion using the Skyrim engine, in a new video on the official Bethesda Softworks YouTube channel.

The video in question is dedicated to Lee’s history with Bethesda Game Studios (the artist worked on Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout 3, Fallout 4, and Fallout 76), but it also found time to acknowledge fan creations.
«”Despite my involvement with Oblivion Remastered, I’m looking forward to Skyblivion. They’re doing something really special. It’s interesting to see their take on our previous work. I think it’s a great year for Oblivion fans,” Lee shared.
The creators of Skyblivion responded to the mention on their microblog: “Dan, we can’t wait to get Skyblivion to you as much as you can to play it. Thanks for the feedback and kind words.”
Let’s remember that the TESRenewal team has been working on Skyblivion for over 11 years, and the Oblivion remaster does not threaten the project. Moreover, at the release, Bethesda gave a copy of the reissue to all the developers of the ambitious mod.
In a world where mega-corporations are persecuting their most loyal fans for daring to infringe on their intellectual property, PC Gamer believes that this behavior on Bethesda’s part deserves respect.
Skyblivion is scheduled for release in 2025. The mod will be distributed absolutely free of charge, but will require legal copies of both the original Oblivion (with all add-ons) and Skyrim (regular version or Special Edition) to play.
