A recent demonstration on the Developer_direct show of the ambitious shooter doom: The Dark Ags from the ID Software studio was without the announcements of new target platforms, but this does not mean that the game will only be released on PC, PS5 and Xbox.
Spanish insider eXtas1s recently reported that Doom: The Dark Ages, in addition to the listed platforms, is in active development for the hybrid console Nintendo Switch 2, announced on January 16.
On Developer_Direct, the version of Doom: The Dark Ages for Switch 2 was not announced, allegedly due to an agreement with Nintendo. The Japanese platform holder does not want to reveal the game line of its console ahead of time.
According to eXtas1s, the Nintendo Switch 2 has enough power for Doom: The Dark Ages, but Nintendo has not yet given partners permission to confirm their games for the company’s new console.
Meanwhile, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer rejoiced at the announcement of the Nintendo Switch 2 on the Gamertag Radio podcast. According to the executive, his “old eyes appreciated the larger screen” of the console.
Spencer also confirmed the company’s plans for the new Japanese console: “I am really waiting for the opportunity to support [Switch 2] our games. I think [nintendo] is an extremely important part of the industry. ”
Doom: The Dark Ages will be released on May 15 on PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), PS5, Xbox Series X and S, as well as in Game Pass. When to wait for the release on the Nintendo Switch 2, it is unclear, but on April 2, the company will conduct a special issue of Nintendo Direct dedicated to the console.
