Elden Ring director and FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki, in an interview after the PlayStation Partner Awards 2024 Japan Asia, spoke about what the Japanese studio is currently doing.
According to Miyazaki, FromSoftware is currently working on several games at once, but the potential Elden Ring 2 is not among them – at the moment the studio “is not considering such developments.”
At the same time, the head allowed the development of Elden Ring as a franchise in the future, but did not share details on this matter. Miyazaki has mentioned interest in a film adaptation of the game in the past.
As for the games in production from FromSoftware, these are projects of different genres. According to Miyazaki, future developments will show the studio from several new angles.
«We have several projects in the works in a wide range of genres. Some are led by me, but there are also those led by other people. In this sense, I think we will be able to show you the new FromSoftware from different angles,” Miyazaki shared.
It’s unclear what kind of projects FromSoftware has in development, but Miyazaki has previously said that the team has a “strong desire” to continue releasing games in the Armored Core franchise in the future, and he aims to surpass the quality of Elden Ring.
FromSoftware’s latest release is the Shadow of the Erdtree add-on for Elden Ring, released in June. The addon received high praise in the press and a Grand Award at the PlayStation Partner Awards 2024 Japan Asia.
