Despite 7.5 million copies sold and cult status, for almost 10 years Sony has not done anything with the gothic action franchise Bloodborne from the FromSoftware studio. The PlayStation veteran explained why this happened.

The former head of PlayStation Studios and Sony’s indie division, Shuhei Yoshida, who recently left the company after 31 years of work, commented on the silence around Bloodborne in an interview with Kinda Funny Games.
Yoshida admitted that he does not have insider information on this topic, but considers the workload of FromSoftware President Hidetaka Miyazaki to be the main reason for the lack of news about the Bloodborne remaster/sequel.

«I remember that Mr. Miyazaki really, really loved Bloodborne, his creation. I think he’s interested [in developing a franchise], but he’s so successful and busy that he can’t do it on his own,” said Yoshida.
At the same time, according to Yoshida, Miyazaki allegedly does not want anyone else to “touch Bloodborne”, and the PlayStation team “respects the wishes” of the creator of the original game.

Sony owns the rights to Bloodborne, which is what Miyazaki has been referring to when asked about Bloodborne in recent years. However, the manager is not against seeing at least the PC version of the game.
Bloodborne was released in March 2015 exclusively on PS4 and has not appeared outside the console since then (at least not officially). In the video for the 30th anniversary of PlayStation, fans of the game saw an unambiguous hint addressed to them.
