The space RPG Starfield from publisher Bethesda Softworks and developers Bethesda Game Studios has received its first update in five and a half months. So far, however, only in beta format.

The beta version of patch 1.15.214 was released only for Starfield on Steam, and will appear on other platforms with the full launch. As a rule, public testing of updates takes about two weeks.
The main feature of the patch is additional options for graphics settings on the PC. In 1.15.214, “Very Low” settings appeared, designed to “improve performance on some devices” (i.e. weak PCs).

In addition, the developers have expanded the capabilities of the Creation Kit mod creation tool. Now you can upload creations up to 2 GB in size and add your own icons to the game.
They also promise support for screens with an aspect ratio of 32:9 and 32:10, an expanded choice of resolutions for 16:9, 16:10 and 21:9 formats, an option to reassign a key to speed up transport, improve performance and fix bugs.

As Bethesda assured in March, the Starfield team has “a lot of exciting things in store for the game this year.” With the release of beta version 1.15.214, fans are hopeful that the first patch in six months will not be the end of the line.
Starfield debuted in September 2023 on PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), Xbox Series X, S, and Game Pass. In recent months, rumors have flared up about the game being ported to new platforms, with Phil Spencer himself hinting at this.
