The first patch for The Sims 3 in nine years solves a long-standing problem with the game, but only in the EA App

With the direction taken for the future of their life simulators, one would think that publisher Electronic Arts and developers from the Maxis studio had forgotten about The Sims 3, but no. The other day, the first new patch in nine years was released for the 2009 game.

Released the day before, on January 13, the update was the first for the game since November 2015 and “pumps” The Sims 3 for the EA App to version 1.69.47.024017. At the time of publication, the improvement (at least not yet) had not reached Steam.

In 1.69.47.024017, only one, but serious problem was solved: The Sims 3 does not work on Intel processors of the Alder Lake family. It became known about her back in December 2021, but salvation came only now.

Some fans saw the late patch as a sign that EA will continue to release updates for The Sims 3 and may still add 64-bit support to the Windows version, which was denied to the game more than five years ago.

Particular hopes were placed on the release of Behind the Sims dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the series, but Maxis limited itself to talking about gifts for The Sims 4 players, announcing three “creator kits” and updating the main menu.

The Sims 3 debuted in June 2009 on Windows and macOS, and subsequently made its way to PS3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, 3DS and DS, and mobile devices. Total sales of the game exceeded 10 million copies.

Meanwhile, instead of releasing The Sims 5, EA and Maxis continue to develop The Sims 4, are preparing for release the social Project Rene, and are working on turning The Sims into an entertainment platform with its own feature film.
