A group of modders who set out to modernize Konami’s cult horror title Silent Hill 2 on PC at the end of 2016 have finally reached the final stop on their journey – Silent Hill 2: Enhanced Edition has received its latest update.
Let’s remember that Silent Hill 2: Enhanced Edition is a set of improvements for Silent Hill 2, the purpose of which is to increase the game’s compatibility with modern systems, improve graphics and fix bugs.
The fan remaster includes support for high resolutions (the game now runs as expected in 16:9), ensures correct 60 fps, restores soft shadows, fog and sound quality, improves mouse/controller support, and so on.
The first version of Silent Hill 2: Enhanced Edition was released in late summer 2018, and six years later the team released the tenth and final update. Enthusiasts shared its details in an hour-long video (attached above).

With the release of the tenth update, Silent Hill 2: Enhanced Edition is considered complete: the developers have achieved everything they wanted. With the exception of critical fixes, no further improvements are planned.
You can download Silent Hill 2: Enhanced Edition for free from the official website of the project. To work, a fan remaster requires an installed copy of the original game (both North American and European ones will do).
