“The entire budget went to animating the anvil”: the demonstration of the action movie Blades of Fire about a battle blacksmith disappointed players

Developers from MercurySteam, together with the publisher 505 Games, have published a short gameplay video of Blades of Fire, their action adventure about a gifted creator of bladed weapons.

The main character is the blacksmith Aran de Lira, who can turn divine metal into swords and axes. He will be accompanied by the keeper of knowledge Adso, who understands myths and sacred languages. In the trailer, de Lira travels through open locations, enters into battles with numerous opponents, listens to valuable comments from his companion and collects items needed for forging.

Players are not thrilled with the current state of Blades of Fire. Commenters criticize the game’s interface, animations, and overall performance. Most users agree that it needs more time to polish. “This game was supposed to come out in 2014 […] The entire budget went to anvil animation,” noted someone named FLytheVoodooSkies.

Bades of Fire will be released on May 22 on PC (Epic Game Store), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S.
