Founded in 2020 by Blizzard co-founder Mike Morhaime, Dreamhaven has finally unveiled its first game in the co-op tactical adventure Sunderfolk.
Sunderfolk is being created by Dreamhaven studio Secret Door for PC (Steam), PS5, Xbox Series X, S and Nintendo Switch, but the game will be controlled from a smartphone or tablet (see video below).
In this way, the authors want to recreate the experience of playing tabletop role-playing games together: the monitor/TV screen becomes a field, and the mentioned gadget becomes the personal space of each participant (up to four people).
Together, players will travel through dangerous and magical lands, participate in turn-based battles, and return between missions to the village of Arden to improve it, upgrade it, and build relationships with civilians.
Users will be given six unique classes to choose from (bard, berserker, sorcerer, pyromancer, rogue and ranger). There is no set order for the players to turn in battles, so the strategy will have to be constantly adapted to the conditions of the battlefield.
They promise a local co-op experience, a free mobile app (iOS/Android) to connect to the game, and tabletop RPG-inspired battles. The gameplay trailer for the project is attached above.
Sunderfolk is expected to be released in 2025. According to Morhaime, the game is full of personality and charm, generates epic moments and is unlike anything already available on the market.
