“The Age of Microtransactions”: players were offended that the trailer with the release date of the mobile Age of Empires did not contain gameplay footage

Developers from World’s Edge and TiMi Studios, together with Microsoft, published a trailer for the mobile strategy Age of Empires Mobile, which revealed its release date. Almost two years have passed since the announcement of the project.

In the description for the trailer, the authors recalled that gamers in Age of Empires Mobile will build their empire in “a living, realistic medieval world with stunning civilizations, imperial cities and historical figures.”

In the comments under the YouTube video, players are wondering why it doesn’t contain a single frame of actual gameplay:

«Never trust a trailer without gameplay,” said one Trujones.

«No gameplay = thumbs down,” agreed user YoshMaster.

«The era of microtransactions,” Krelgarsh noted ironically.

Age of Empires Mobile will be released on October 17 on iOS and Android. The developers promise to implement spacious locations in the project with a realistic landscape and a convincing weather system. A convenient control system for many types of troops has also been introduced into the game.
