Contrary to a June leak from the unofficial Epic Games Store database, Worms Armageddon: Anniversary Edition is being created only for consoles and is not announced for release on PC, at least at the time of announcement.
As it became known, Worms Armageddon: Anniversary Edition will go on sale on September 26 this year for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, as well as Nintendo Switch. The Californian studio Digital Eclipse is responsible for the development.
They promise controller-optimized controls, support for achievements and modern screen aspect ratios, alternative graphics filters and a new save system.
«The developers have put a lot of love into improvements, multiple quality improvements and a completely redesigned interface on all target platforms,” Team17 assures.
In addition, the Anniversary Edition includes an interactive museum about the history of the series (featuring never-before-seen interviews with the original game developers) and a fully working version of Worms Armageddon for the Game Boy Color.
Worms Armageddon: Anniversary Edition will finally offer multiplayer for up to six players. Crossplay is available between console families (i.e. PS4/PS5 and Xbox One/Xbox Series X and S).
