The Remaster of the cult scientific and fantastic role-player System Shock 2 from Irrational Games, announced back in 2019, for the first time in a few years gave signs of life and, moreover, is preparing for a quick release.

According to the Gematsu portal with reference to the Nightdive Studios press release, the System Shock 2 reprint, still known as the System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition, changed the name on the System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster.
System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster will be released not only on PC (Steam, GOG), PS5, Xbox Series X and S, as planned until recently, but also on PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
The release is expected “soon.” The exact release date of the System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster will announce on March 20 at the Future Games Show: Spring Showcase 2025 presentation – a new reprint trailer will also be presented there.

The events of the System Shock 2 unfold in 2114 on the Schodan Starslest “von Braun” captured by monsters and artificial intelligence. The original game was released in 1999 and, despite the weak sales, became a cult classic.
The remaster promised to update “All videos, textures, models of characters and weapons”, improve performance (up to 120 frames/s), increase stability, realize a seamless cooperative and support for mods.
Earlier it was reported that the updated System Shock 2 will get free to everyone who purchased the first System Shock through Steam or GOG remake. Probably, with the replenishment of the list of target platforms, the developers will expand the promotion program.
