Developers from the Swedish Hazelight Studios (It Takes Two, A Way Out) reported that the cooperative adventure Split Fiction has reached a new sales peak, and the publisher Electronic Arts has commented on the game’s success for the first time.

Let us recall that Split Fiction reached its first million in just 48 hours after its official release, while a week after its release, total sales of the game on all target platforms reached 2 million copies.
Since then, Split Fiction has reportedly sold another 2 million copies, bringing its total to 4 million. It took Hazelight Studios’ new game exactly two months to reach this peak.
It’s worth noting that Split Fiction is significantly ahead of Hazelight’s most successful project, It Takes Two (23 million), in terms of sales. The 2021 hit took more than six months to reach 3 million copies sold.
Split Fiction co-op only requires one copy to be purchased between two people, so theoretically the game’s audience is twice as big
«“So many of you have already purchased Split Fiction, it’s amazing… It warms our hearts here at Hazelight to see how much fun you’re having with the game and the love you’re showing for Mio, Zoe, and each other,” the developers shared.
Meanwhile, in a press release timed to coincide with the release of its new financial report, Electronic Arts called the launch of Split Fiction “extremely successful.” The game helped the company “finish strongly” in its fiscal year (ended March 31).
Split Fiction was released on March 6 on PC (Steam, EGS, EA App), PS5, Xbox Series X and S. The game has received high marks from critics and “extremely positive” reviews on Steam. A Hollywood adaptation is already in production.
