Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier reported in a new article on the publication’s website that Sony Interactive Entertainment has canceled two more service games that were in development. The platform holder confirmed the decision.

We are talking about unannounced projects from two internal American studios of Sony Interactive Entertainment – Texas Bluepoint Games (Demon’s Souls remake) and Oregon Bend Studio (Days Gone).
In the case of Bluepoint, according to Schreier, we were talking about a service game in the universe of fantasy slashers God of War from Santa Monica Studio. It was with teasers that the studio has been teasing fans in recent years.
Until now, Bluepoint has only been involved in remasters and remakes of other people’s games (image source: PlayStation)
A spokesperson for Sony Interactive Entertainment said in a statement to Bloomberg that the cancellation of the Bluepoint and Bend projects was prompted by a recent internal review: “PlayStation will continue to make both online and single-player games.”
None of the studios will be closed as a result of the cancellation of games. The platform holder works closely with each of the teams to determine their future projects and minimize the “business consequences.”

Thus, of the 12 game services announced several years ago by the then head of Sony Interactive Entertainment Jim Ryan, the platform holder has already canceled eight by 2026:
Still in development are Bungie’s PvP shooter Marathon, Guerrilla Games’ multiplayer Horizon, and Haven Studios’ co-op action game Fairgames. The only successful project of the initiative is Helldivers 2, released in February 2024.
