As a reminder, Ghost of Yotei was unveiled last September at the State of Play presentation and was expected to premiere in 2025. The game recently received an age rating in Taiwan, which usually indicates an imminent release.
As it became known, Ghost of Yotei will go on sale on October 2 for PS5 at a price of $70. The game will also have an expanded (for $80 with bonus skins and equipment items) and collector’s edition. Pre-orders will open on May 2.
Ghost of Yotei takes place in 1603, over 300 years after Ghost of Tsushima, on the island of Hokkaido in the Mount Yotei region. Players take on the role of a new ghost, a wandering warrior named Atsu.
The Ghost of Yotei story trailer that accompanied the announcement reveals the game’s plot. A group of bandits killed Atsu’s family and left the girl to die. The heroine survived and, having grown up, set out to track down the killers and take revenge on them.
The three-minute video showcases picturesque landscapes, Atsu’s future allies, several types of weapons, and a new gameplay mechanic – the ability to immerse yourself in the heroine’s memories.
They promise even more freedom than in Ghost of Tsushima, non-linear tracking of story objectives, unexpected dangers, the ability to set up camp anywhere in the open world, progressive graphics and PS5 Pro support.
