Rockstar celebrated the 11th anniversary of GTA V by adding a new anti-cheat to GTA Online on PC

Since the release of GTA V on PC in April 2015, GTA Online users have suffered from cheaters. All this time, Rockstar Games has been struggling with the problem on its own, but now it has brought in outside help.

As noted by the Rockstar Intel portal, a third-party anti-cheat BattlEye appeared with the latest update in GTA Online on PC. The addition of a new item to the game can be tracked through an entry in the unofficial Steam database.

The presence of BattlEye should make it more difficult for unscrupulous users to ruin the lives of honest GTA Online players. The mechanism is also used in other popular network projects such as Destiny 2, PUBG and Rainbow Six Siege.

Cheating and hacking games is an endless arms race. BattlEye will not drive hackers away from GTA Online completely, but it will certainly lead to a reduction in such cases and will send the creators of some cheats to refine their utilities.

To take advantage of BattlEye, GTA Online players on Steam, Rockstar Games Launcher and Epic Games Store will need to download the new patch, which is just over 1GB in size.

According to dataminer Tez2, the update also includes indications that Rockstar is working to bring updates from the PS5, Xbox Series X S – ray tracing, GTA Online career progress tracking system and GTA+ subscription – to the PC version of the game.

An update with support for BattlEye for the PC version of GTA Online was released on the next birthday of GTA V. The open-world crime thriller debuted on PS3 and Xbox 360 exactly 11 years ago – on September 17, 2013.
