Unlike many major award shows, including The Game Awards, the winners of the 2024 Golden Joystick Awards were primarily chosen by players. In two categories (“Breakthrough of the Year” and “Critics’ Choice”), awards were handed out by the jury.

The leaders in the number of awards at the Golden Joystick Awards 2024 were the fantasy role-playing game Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (four statuettes in seven categories) and the cooperative action game Helldivers 2 (three out of five).
