People from Annapurna Interactive took over the Private Division portfolio, including Kerbal Space Program 2 and a mysterious game from the authors of “Pokemon”

Bloomberg, citing informants knowledgeable about the situation, spoke about the future fate of former employees of the game publisher Annapurna Interactive and the publishing label Private Division.

Let us remember that in September 2024, after an unsuccessful attempt to separate from the parent company, all employees of Annapurna Interactive (Kentucky Route Zero, Outer Wilds, What Remains of Edith Finch, Neon White, Stray and other games) quit.

As for the Private Division (The Outer Worlds, OlliOlli World, Rollerdrome, Kerbal Space Program 2 and other projects), in November the management of Take-Two Interactive (the owner) sold it to an unknown buyer.

According to Bloomberg, the buyer of the Private Division was the American Haveli Investments, which entered into a deal with former employees of Annapurna Interactive to finance their new company.

As a result of this agreement, the Private Division portfolio will come under the wing of the as-yet-unnamed venture of the ex-employees of Annapurna Interactive, not counting the role-playing action game No Rest for the Wicked from Moon Studios, which remains with Take-Two.

In particular, the new company will “inherit” from Private Division the rights to the Kerbal Space Program franchise, Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of the Rings Game (to be released on March 25) and the mysterious Project Bloom (codename) from the authors of Pokemon from Game Freak.

In the meantime, some of the 20 employees remaining in the Private Division are planned to be laid off under the concluded agreement. In conditions of uncertainty, current management recommends that subordinates start looking for a new job.
