Let us recall that last Thursday, April 17, early access to Tempest Rising started on Steam only for those who pre-ordered the extended edition, but at the same time the game was released for all other users.
Thus, owners of the premium edition of Tempest Rising lost the paid period of extended access to the game, for which they paid 450 rubles more than for the standard version (1899 versus 2349 rubles).
The expanded edition also includes a digital artbook and soundtrack.
3D Realms and Knights Peak, who are responsible for releasing Tempest Rising, later commented on the situation: “While the team worked to fix the issue, the most painless solution was to release the game to everyone.”
The publishers haven’t forgotten about the owners of the extended edition of Tempest Rising who were left high and dry. As compensation, such users will be provided with “new exclusive in-game content.”
3D Realms and Knights Peak have clarified that despite the early release, the promised matchmaking and leaderboards for ranked mode will not be available in Tempest Rising until April 24.
Tempest Rising has received high marks from reviewers (80% on Metacritic, 79% on OpenCritic) and “very positive” reviews from Steam users (based on which the game has an 88% rating).
