Nintendo to Raise Game Prices Before Take-Two with GTA VI — Mario Kart World for Switch 2 Will Cost $80 Digitally and $90 at Retail

While Take-Two Interactive is still pondering whether to sell GTA VI for more than $70, Nintendo is going ahead and doing it: the upcoming arcade racing game Mario Kart World for Nintendo Switch 2 will break that price barrier.

Following the presentation of Mario Kart World as part of the Nintendo Direct show, a page for the game appeared on the official Nintendo website, according to which the arcade game will cost $80.

According to the Spanish version of the Switch 2 product page on Nintendo’s website, the digital Mario Kart World will cost €80, while the standard retail edition will set you back €90.

It’s worth noting that the only Nintendo game over $60 so far has been The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom for $70 on the original Switch. It’s set to be joined by another Switch 2 exclusive soon.

The platformer Donkey Kong Bananza, announced at the April Nintendo Direct, will also cost $70/€70 in a digital version. According to the Spanish branch of Nintendo, the game will go up in price to €80 in retail.

Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza will be released exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2. The former will be released simultaneously with the upcoming console, while the latter will debut on July 17 of this year.

The Nintendo Switch 2 will go on sale on June 5 for $450. A bundle with the console and a copy of Mario Kart World will be available for $500. So, at least in combination with the console, the exclusive can be purchased for $50.
