Nacon will compensate Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown players for problems with servers, and in the meantime offers a temporary solution to the problems

The launch of the extended access open-world arcade racing game Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown did not go well, and publisher Nacon, together with developers from KT Racing, are ready to compensate players for this.

Let us remind you that Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown extended access started on September 5 for owners of the gold edition ($80 on PC, $90 on consoles), but the release resulted in constant problems with the servers.

Since Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown requires a constant connection to the Internet, failed servers meant the game was unavailable: users could not log in, and those who entered the network were thrown out directly from the race.

At the start of extended access, the rating of Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown on Steam was only 33% (“mostly negative” reviews). The figure has since risen to 43% (mixed) and reflects an improving situation.

The developers confirmed that in the first eight hours from the release in extended access, the rate of successful logins increased from 45 to 96% and remains stable, but there are still problems:

  • Error message after the race – the authors advise not to rush to agree to return to the lobby / free mode, but to wait “a few minutes” until the game sends the necessary requests to the servers;
  • It is not possible to start the race – “if problems arise” it is recommended not to stop trying;
  • The next race in the chain does not appear on the map – they suggest replaying the previous race and, if that doesn’t help, request a “save reload.”

The creators of Solar Crown plan to solve these problems in the upcoming patch, and “as a sign of gratitude for your patience and as an apology,” they are going to offer in-game compensation to those affected by the troubles.

The official release of Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown is expected on September 12 on PC (Steam), PS5, Xbox Series X and S. The first game in the series in 12 years disappointed not only users, but also journalists – it has only 60-66% on Metacritic.
