Monster Hunter Wilds has already become the fastest-selling game in Capcom history, breaking the record of Monster Hunter: World

As Capcom reported in a new press release, Monster Hunter Wilds has sold 8 million copies in its first three days of release, the best result in the company’s history.

By comparison, Capcom’s current best-selling game, Monster Hunter: World (21.3 million copies as of December 31, 2024), reached 5 million copies over the same period.

It’s worth noting, however, that Monster Hunter: World was only available on consoles at launch, while Monster Hunter Wilds was released simultaneously on current consoles and PC.

Capcom notes that following the announcement, it promoted Monster Hunter Wilds at various events and held an open beta test of the game. These initiatives resulted in “massive excitement” and the aforementioned record sales.

Monster Hunter Wilds was released on February 28 on PC (Steam), PS5, Xbox Series X and S. Journalists were delighted with the game (88-90% on Metacritic), and users criticized the project for technical problems and monetization.

Since its release, Monster Hunter Wilds has received over 64,000 “mixed” reviews on Steam (the game’s rating is 58%) and reached a peak online of 1.384 million people (the fifth result in the platform’s history).
