Developers from the American Nightdive Studios (owned by Atari) are in no hurry to reveal the release date of the horror shooter The Thing: Remastered, but Microsoft seems to have inadvertently spoiled the upcoming surprise.
Let us remind you that the remaster of the original The Thing (2002) based on the horror film “The Thing” was presented in the summer and is still expected to be released before the end of 2024. “Soon,” Nightdive CFO Larry Kuperman said recently.
Apparently, this “soon” will come within the current week. The GamingBolt portal noticed that the release date of The Thing: Remastered appeared in the digest of December gaming news from the official Xbox Wire blog.
As it became known thanks to a leak, The Thing: Remastered will go on sale on December 5th. GamingBolt admits that the game could be released without a prior announcement of the release date.
Players take on the role of Captain J.F. Blake to travel to the Outpost 31 research facility in Antarctica, command a squad of four, hunt down impostors and fight terrible monsters.
The developers have fixed one of the most annoying elements of the original game – squad members tested for infection will no longer transform at the behest of the script (instead, they will succumb to emotional trauma).
The Thing: Remastered is being created for PC (Steam, GOG), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, S and Nintendo Switch. Declared support for 4K and 120 frames/s, achievements and improvements in graphics (models, textures, animations, effects, lighting).
