Let’s remember that Avowed was announced for the fall of 2024 (November 12, according to the June leak), but The Verge senior editor Tom Warren predicted the game would be postponed to early 2025.
According to Warren, Avowed is in “good condition”, but they want to find a more profitable release period for the project – the shooter S.T.A.L.K.E.R. was recently postponed to November. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, which will also be released on Game Pass.
The Xbox microblog confirmed the transfer and even revealed the game’s release date. As it became known, Avowed will be released on February 18, 2025 on PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), Xbox Series X and S, as well as Game Pass.
«So many games coming out! Because of this, we are pushing the release of Avowed to February 18, 2025 to give gamers more time to clear out their library,” reads the Xbox microblog tweet about the postponement.
Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer also commented on the announcement. The executive said that Xbox is proud of Obsidian’s work on Avowed and wants to give it the best possible launch environment.
An exclusive presentation of Avowed will take place on August 23 as part of gamescom 2024. The game promises a story from the world of Eora (the setting of Pillars of Eternity), the consequences of decisions made, memorable companions and a wide selection of weapons.
