Microsoft and Ubisoft have solved the problem of Assassin’s Creed compatibility with Windows 11 24H2

Microsoft has lifted restrictions on updating Windows 11 to version 24H2 for computers running Assassin’s Creed games. Previously, users massively complained about glitches in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Assassin’s Creed Origins after installing the latest system update. Ubisoft released patches that fixed these problems, after which Microsoft lifted the block.

Users were especially dissatisfied with the fact that the problems were known even at the testing stage of Windows 11 24H2. Gamers complained about bugs on the Insider Feedback Hub, on Reddit and other platforms, but fixes appeared only a few weeks after the official release of the system. At the same time, the troubles were chaotic: for some, games crashed immediately after launch, for others, a few minutes after loading saves.

This week, Ubisoft released updates for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Assassin’s Creed Origins, addressing incompatibility with Windows 11 24H2, and Microsoft confirmed that the listed games are no longer affected by the issue thanks to patches released by Ubisoft. The update block associated with these games was lifted on January 16, 2025. It is noted that updates offered through Windows Update may take up to 48 hours, but restarting the device may speed up the process.

In addition, Microsoft has begun the forced rollout of Windows 11 24H2 for compatible systems running the Home and Pro editions. However, update restrictions remain in force for such categories of devices as computers with Auto HDR enabled, the Dirac audio enhancement application, the racing game Asphalt 8 (Airborne), as well as ASUS X415KA and X515KA laptop models.
