Leak: 13 minutes of gameplay of the canceled battle royale Crysis Next from the creators of Crysis 4

Lit up in a large-scale leak from October 2020, the never-released shareware battle royale Crysis Next from the Crytek studio received an unofficial gameplay demonstration.

Crysis Next was supposed to offer “spectacular battles in an immersive world” for hundreds of players with “visual customization and adaptive nanosuit capabilities.”

In March 2021, an unknown person already published an 18-minute recording of an online match from Crysis Next. That video was presented in extremely mediocre quality: camera shake and extraneous sound effects interfered with perception.

Three and a half years later, user PainRunner from the Reddit forum said that he had obtained a working build of Crysis Next, and as proof of his words, he posted a gameplay video of the project on YouTube in good (720p) quality.

The video lasts 13 minutes and demonstrates third-person gameplay, three character classes (Frontliner, Technician and Flanker), dances in the spirit of Fortnite and graphics that are clearly far from the release (most elements lack detail and textures).

According to PainRunner, the build represents a “very early” alpha version of Crysis Next. The user also showed a model of the third generation nanosuit from the game and promised to post a video of gameplay for 32 people.

Crysis Next was in development prior to the announcement of Crysis 4 (codename) in January 2022, and has now been cancelled. It is unclear whether the developments from the battle royale will be transferred to the new numbered game.
