Korean T1 became the five-time champion of the main League of Legends tournament – the final set a viewership record

Yesterday, November 2, Worlds 2024, the main League of Legends tournament of the year, ended. The South Korean team T1 became the champion, beating the Chinese Bilibili Gaming in the grand final with a score of 3:2. A team of eSports players from South Korea has won the biggest League of Legends championship for the fifth time – last year they also managed to take home the coveted award.

The legendary Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok is the only player who helped T1 win all the grand finals – in 2013, 2015, 2016, 2023 and now in 2024 year.

The Worlds 2024 LoL Championship was held in a LAN format from September 25 to November 2 in Paris, London and Berlin. 20 teams took part, competing for a prize fund of $2.225 million. The winners from T1 took home $445 thousand, and the Chinese Bilibili Gaming received $356 thousand.

The peak online audience for the 2024 World Championship broadcast was 6.94 million people, an exceptional figure for viewing esports competitions. The previous record was set during the broadcast of the Worlds 2023 grand final (6.4 million).
