Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 development lead and lead writer Daniel Vavra spoke to the Czech publication Seznam Zpravy about the cost of the game’s production and the real reason for its December postponement.

As reported by Seznam Zpravy, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 cost the developers approximately 1 billion Czech crowns (that is, about $41.1 million) and paid for itself on the first day of sales – the game has already been bought more than a million times.
According to Vavra, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 surpasses the original game in every way (except total sales): “We are happy with the numbers. If everything continues in the same vein, it will be very good.”
«We have more dialogue than any game. Much more than games with budgets an order of magnitude larger than ours. Almost as many cutscenes as Death Stranding, with a budget five times smaller, and many with crowds of people,” Vavra said in X.

As for the December delay, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 was supposed to be released on February 11, but the premiere was moved a week earlier. Vavra admitted that this happened because of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which was then expected on the 14th.
In January, Ubisoft delayed Assassin’s Creed Shadows until March 20. Vavra admitted that, despite the size of the French company, the delay could have been partly due to Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has been released on PC (Steam, EGS), PS5, Xbox Series X and S, and will be released on GOG in the spring. The peak online on Steam last weekend reached 256 thousand people, beating the game’s result at the start of sales.
