The expansion to Askiisoft’s action platformer Katana Zero, which is six times larger than its original concept, hasn’t been heard from in over two and a half years, but that all changed at The Triple-i Initiative 2025.

Askiisoft, with support from publisher Devolver Digital, has released a new teaser trailer for the upcoming (and still unnamed) expansion for Katana Zero as part of The Triple-i Initiative 2025.
The one-minute video of the addon demonstrates the gameplay familiar from Katana Zero, new situations, locations and techniques of the main character, and also hints at the further development of the story.
«Get ready to pick up where you left off with Zero’s adventure and delve into his murky past. With new characters, levels, gameplay and story, this massive expansion promises to live up to expectations,” the authors intrigue.
The unnamed expansion to Katana Zero was announced back in April 2019, so the first new trailer in a long time was predictably greeted with undisguised delight by fans of the game.
In terms of content, the Katana Zero expansion will be comparable to half of the main game. Despite the increased scale, Askiisoft still intends to distribute the upcoming expansion for free.
The expansion’s release date has yet to be revealed, but it looks like it won’t be long now – development is “finally nearing completion.” Katana Zero is out now on PC (Steam, GOG, Microsoft Store), Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
