New gameplay footage and screenshots of Half-Life 2 RTX, a reimagining of the legendary Valve shooter from modders from the Orbifold Studios team based on the RTX Remix platform, have become publicly available as a result of a leak.
The album ARE TEE EX with various footage from Half-Life 2 RTX on the night of January 20-21 was uploaded to the Imgur hosting and image sharing site by an unknown user and is available for viewing via the link.
The leak contains a number of screenshots and behind-the-scenes footage of object models, characters (including Gordon Freeman) and monsters, including some rather grotesque ones. “It looks disgusting, I’m ready,” says rickreckt from the Reddit forum.
As for the gameplay footage, six and a half minutes of Half-Life 2 RTX gameplay in 720p resolution were leaked online along with the images. The video shows the updated Ravenholm.
Judging by the title of the video uploaded to the Streamable service (see copy from VK below), the demonstrated build of Half-Life 2 RTX dates back to December 2023, so it does not reflect the current quality of the remaster.
Using RTX Remix tools, developers from Orbifold Studios are going to completely rework Half-Life 2: high-poly models, physically based rendering (PBR), path tracing, DLSS, Reflex and RTX IO.
Half-Life 2 RTX is billed as the “most comprehensive graphical remaster” of Half-Life 2 and a free expansion for all owners of the original game. There is no release date for the re-release, but there is a page on Steam.
