Trusted insider Tom Henderson, in an exclusive article for the Insider Gaming portal, shared behind-the-scenes details of preparations for the release of the next game in the Battlefield series of military shooters from Electronic Arts.
According to Henderson, Electronic Arts is doing everything possible to ensure that Battlefield 6 (the potential name of the new game) does not repeat the mistakes of Battlefield 5 and especially Battlefield 2042 at launch.
First, from a financial perspective, the new Battlefield has the most resources in the history of the franchise. The game is being created by four studios – DICE, Criterion, Motive Studio and Ripple Effect.
Secondly, EA and development studios “much more often” than when creating previous Battelfields, involve invited players in testing the project. Formats range from small sessions to gather feedback to full-scale trials.
As a result of this “player-centric” approach, Henderson’s sources say, the teams have already collected more data and feedback for Battlefield 6 than any other game in the series at the same stage of production.
The previously announced “large-scale” public testing program for Battlefield 6, according to Henderson, will not be limited to a “beta”, but will offer an experience similar to the test environment (CTE) of Battlefield 4 and Battlefield 1.
Battlefield 6 is expected to release in October 2025. The game will be part of the unified Battlefield universe and will be a return to the roots of the series: modern warfare, a redesigned destruction system, four classes, matches for 64 people.
