Announced last week, the Developer_Direct presentation will feature four games – three confirmed and one secret. Windows Central editor Jez Corden hinted at what kind of surprise awaits viewers.

It’s official that the announcement of a secret project within Developer_Direct will take viewers on a journey to an “unexpected location” and offer a look at a brand new game from a mysterious studio.

According to Corden’s sources, we are talking about “a new part of the legendary Japanese series with decades of history, which should please many fans.” The journalist limited himself to a teaser because he didn’t want to spoil the surprise.

«Recently, Microsoft has received serious support from studios from the [eastern] region like Square Enix with Final Fantasy, HoYoverse with Genshin Impact and Sega/Atlus with Persona. We suspect that the new game will support this trend,” Corden added.

Users of the ResetEra forum have already joined forces to figure out the mysterious legendary Japanese franchise that will appear on Developer_Direct. There are several suspects:

  • Dino Crisis – fans have been begging Capcom for a new installment/remake for years;
  • Dragon Quest – a new numbered game is officially in development;
  • Ecco the Dolphin – In December, Sega applied to register new trademarks related to the series in Japan;
  • Final Fantasy is the third episode of the Final Fantasy VII remake in the works, with the first two being prepared for release on Xbox;
  • Ninja Gaiden – Koei Tecmo (franchise owner) AAA Studio has promised to announce its first game in 2025;
  • Persona – according to rumors, a full-fledged sixth part is in development;
  • Resident Evil – a new numbered game is officially in development;
  • Tales – the series turns 30 in 2025.

It is also worth noting that the projects planned for display on Developer_Direct (both confirmed and secret) are planned for release this year, and the likelihood of seeing a release in 2025, for example, the conditional Persona 6, is extremely low.

The Developer_Direct presentation is scheduled for January 23 (starts at 21:00 Moscow time). The show will definitely feature the shooter Doom: The Dark Ages, the action-adventure game South of Midnight and the role-playing game Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
