The co-op adventure Split Fiction from the developers of the Swedish Hazelight Studios (It Takes Two, A Way Out) has become a real success, and now Hollywood companies want a piece of this pie.

Variety, citing its sources, reports that a film adaptation of Split Fiction is in the works. The media company Story Kitchen is allegedly already selecting screenwriters, a director, and a cast.
Meanwhile, according to Variety’s sources, major Hollywood studios (which ones exactly are not specified) are vying with each other to form offers in order to snatch up the ambitious adaptation.

It’s worth noting that the same Story Kitchen was responsible for the film based on Hazelight Studios’ previous game, It Takes Two. The film adaptation was confirmed back in 2022 and nothing has been heard about it since.
Hazelight Studios CEO Josef Fares said in a recent interview that he doesn’t know the status of the It Takes Two adaptation and isn’t really interested in it: “To be honest, I don’t care anymore.”

Split Fiction sees antipodean writers Mio and Zoe trapped in their own stories. To escape, they must rely on each other and work together as they travel between sci-fi and fairytale worlds.
Split Fiction was released on March 6 on PC (Steam, EGS, EA App), PS5, Xbox Series X and S. The game received high marks from critics and ordinary users, and sales in the week of release exceeded 2 million copies.
