Hero shooter Marvel Rivals reaches over 40 million users

Shortly after the news broke that some of Marvel Rivals’ key developers had been fired, NetEase Games revealed the shooter’s popularity figures in its financial report.

Three months after the release, the number of players who got acquainted with the project exceeded 40 million. In the first three days alone, over 10 million people registered in Marvel Rivals. The shooter was among the leaders of the Steam sales chart in December and consolidated its success in January, after the release of the first season.

The report also indicated that NetEase was able to generate $2.9 billion in revenue from video games and related services in the most recent quarter, up 1.5% year-on-year.

Marvel Rivals was released on December 6, 2024 on PC (Steam, EGS), PS5, Xbox Series X and S. The game immediately entered the list of the most popular projects on Steam. And in terms of peak online for all time, the hero shooter from NetEase Games has already surpassed Apex Legends (624,473 people) and Path of Exile 2 (578,569 people).
