GTA VI has not been postponed to 2026 – the journalist found out from Rockstar employees

Before one insider had time to scare players about the possible transfer of the open-world crime thriller GTA VI from Rockstar Games, another insider reassured (as much as possible) the fan community.

Let us remind you that the other day the author of GTA Base under the nickname billsyliamgta, citing “several developers in two studios,” reported that Rockstar allegedly postponed the release of GTA VI to the first half of 2026, and the game should be expected on PC in 12-18 months.

Apparently, billsyliamgta was confident in this data, as he claimed that it would be “confirmed soon” by Jason Schreier, a Bloomberg reporter who has established himself as a reliable insider with a number of credible leaks.

What happened, however, was the opposite: in a new tweet, Schreier reported that he asked six different Rockstar employees about the possible postponement of GTA VI to 2026, but they had not heard anything about it.

Schreier said that theoretically, Rockstar executives could decide to delay GTA VI and not tell anyone about it, but, as a rule, the team is notified of such changes.

The journalist added that GTA VI is an ambitious game and is not immune from transfers, however, due to the remoteness of the release, it is difficult to say anything for sure. Meanwhile, billsyliamgta deleted the “insider” tweet and closed the account from outsiders.

Officially, the release of GTA VI is expected in the fall of 2025 on PS5, Xbox Series X and S. The game could have featured the hit of the 80s – the song Temptation by the British synth-pop group Heaven 17 – but due to the “pathetic” offer from Rockstar, this was not will happen.
