GTA V Enhanced fails to impress Steam users – improved version of cult game launched with “mixed” reviews

While the original Grand Theft Auto V has enjoyed “very positive” reviews on Steam, the enhanced version of Rockstar Games’ iconic crime thriller, which was released yesterday, has not been so well received.

Let us recall that on March 4, Rockstar upgraded GTA V on PC to a current-gen version, simultaneously increasing the system requirements and dividing the game into two editions – classic (Legacy) and new (Enhanced).

The new version includes ray tracing, faster loading times, improved audio, support for AMD FSR 3 and Nvidia DLSS 3 scaling, ultra-wide and ultra-ultra-wide formats, and higher frame rates.

However, the innovations were met by Steam users with more than five thousand “mixed” reviews, based on which the rating of GTA V Enhanced is only 50% (87% for the classic version).

There is no single reason for this: some encountered technical difficulties, others complained about performance, others had problems with account migration, and others were simply not impressed with the improvements.

The maximum peak online of GTA V Enhanced on Steam a day after the release reached 187 thousand people, while the record of the classic version for almost ten (!) years remains 364.5 thousand simultaneous players.

Owners of the classic version of the game received GTA V Enhanced for free, so the new edition is not storming the Steam sales charts. Three years before the release on PC, the listed improvements debuted on PS5, Xbox Series X and S.
