Steam’s April statistics have seen some newcomers – the Nvidia GeForce RTX 50 series of video cards appeared in the fourth month after their debut. And despite their popularity in retail, the AMD Radeon RX 9000 did not make it into the list – perhaps due to their absence at the recommended retail price.

April’s gaming hardware statistics were marked by a return to normal after an abnormal surge in Chinese users adjusted the rankings. However, the general trends remained the same: Nvidia remains the leader in the graphics card category with a share of 74.39%, while Intel takes first place in the processor class with 61.25%, ahead of AMD.
Now, new video cards have started to gain popularity among gamers: Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 (0.38%), RTX 5070 Ti (0.28%) and RTX 5070 (0.38%). The absence of the RTX 5090 in this list is explained simply: this model is far beyond what the average consumer can afford. At the same time, the AMD Radeon RX 9070 RX 9070 XT has not yet made it into the statistics, which is noteworthy because these models have become an undoubted success for AMD, and Nvidia has not yet been able to overcome the problems of its latest generation of video cards.
AMD’s newcomer to the list is the Radeon RX 7800 XT, which hasn’t shown up here before, and it’s tied with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti at 0.27%. The AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT, 7900 GRE, 7600 XT, and 7600 are still missing from the rankings, as is virtually the entire Intel Arc lineup, with the exception of the integrated Arc Graphics, which holds steady at 0.22%.
Steam statistics do not cover all users of the platform, but they give some idea of consumer preferences. Nvidia’s new-generation graphics cards appeared earlier than the current AMD ones, so the RX 9070 XT will probably appear, but a month or two later – at the moment, the actual prices, which turned out to be higher than the recommended retail prices, are working against it. Judging by the statistics, more Steam users have an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 installed than an AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT – consumers choose the “green” ones, despite the software and hardware shortcomings.
And the most popular series are the budget “xx50” and “xx60”, which have optimal price tags for most gamers. AMD understands this, and, if you believe the unconfirmed information, Radeon RX 9060 XT with 8 and 16 GB of memory is being prepared for release, and the first option will probably experience difficulties in memory-related scenarios from the first days – the announcement of video cards is expected at Computex 2025, and they will go on sale in early June.
