Most award ceremonies and specialized publications have already decided on the main games of 2024, and enthusiasts from the Game of the Year Award Tracker portal calculated which release was recognized as the best more often than others.
As of January 6, the first place in the ranking with 104 Game of the Year awards (90 from the editors of publications and 14 as a result of user votes) was taken by the adventure platformer Astro Bot from Team Asobi.
In a distant second place with 37 prizes (29/8) is the large-scale role-playing game Final Fantasy VII Rebirth from Square Enix, and the poker roguelike Balatro from LocalThunk closes the top three with 28 triumphs (25/3).
Metaphor: ReFantazio (25) from the creators of Persona and Chinese action role-playing Black Myth: Wukong (22) from Game Science studio also scored more than 20 Game of the Year awards.
The Game of the Year Award Tracker ranking for 2024 has 27 positions. Some publications also recognized Dragon’s Dogma 2 (one award), Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree (two), S.T.A.L.K.E.R. as the best. 2: Heart of Chornobyl (three) and other games.
Also in the list of Game of the Year Award Tracker there was a place for the best game of 2024 according to the editors of 3DNews – the adventure of Harold Halibut from the Slow Bros studio, unfairly deprived of the attention of the mass public.
