Former Metro developer Reburn has clarified plans for its story-driven futuristic shooter La Quimera after last week’s announced release date fell through.

Let’s remember that La Quimera was supposed to go on sale on April 25 for PC (Steam) at a price of $30, but due to “unforeseen problems” at the last moment the release was postponed indefinitely.

The transfer was preceded by the publication of the first reviews, in which La Quimera was criticized for its ridiculous length, superficial gameplay, unclear script, unprofessional voice acting and abundance of bugs.

Reviewers noted that La Quimera’s story campaign included only three main missions

According to Reburn, La Quimera was originally intended to be a “big, cohesive” adventure, but development difficulties forced the team to scale back their ambitions and settle on “a more modest, standalone release with a sequel to follow.”

The unexpected delay convinced the developers that La Quimera should go through an early access period, which they plan to launch as soon as the team sorts out the technical difficulties that have arisen.

Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn was responsible for the setting and script for La Quimera

The launch version of La Quimera will include a “significant first part” (playable solo or in co-op) that will lay the foundation for the rest of the game: missions, features, story development, gameplay improvements, and so on.

Ultimately, Reburn expects to deliver on its original plans for La Quimera in full: “We know this is a significant departure from our original expectations and we hope for your understanding and support.”
