As a reminder, Sea of Stars backers on Kickstarter guaranteed the release of Throes of the Watchmaker back in April 2020. The expansion received its first trailer last summer and was expected to be released this spring.

As it became known, Throes of the Watchmaker will be released on May 20 on all target platforms of Sea of Stars – PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, Nintendo Switch. The announcement was accompanied by a new trailer.

Throes of the Watchmaker takes place after the end of the game’s plot in a miniature mechanical world called Horloge (French for “watch”), created by the inventor, which is threatened by a cursed carnival.

Players, as familiar solstice warriors Valerie and Zayla from the main story, will have to adapt to the rules of Horloge to realize the potential of the moon and sun powers they have been honing since the beginning of the adventure.

They promise over 8 hours of content (locations, dungeons, mini-games, puzzles, music), unique enemies and bosses, robot engineer Artie as a companion, and new classes for Valerie (acrobat) and Zale (juggler).

Sea of Stars was released in August 2023, and last fall received the Dawn of Equinox update, which added local three-player co-op to the game (will also be available in Throes of the Watchmaker). The project’s audience exceeds 6 million people.
