Former Little Nightmares developers have returned after three years of silence to strike a deal with Epic Games

Founded in 2020 by the leading developers of the Little Nightmares horror platformer duology, Swedish studio Section 9 Interactive announced that it has found a publisher for its debut project.

As it became known, the first Section 9 Interactive game will be published by Epic Games Publishing. PC Gamer adds that the company will finance the development of the project and its future promotion (marketing).

As part of the deal, Section 9 will retain the rights to the game and full creative control over it. After the project earns back the money spent on it, the studio will receive at least 50% of the sales proceeds.

According to Section 9 Interactive co-founder Gustaf Heinerwall, working with Epic Games Publishing was a “wonderful experience” for the studio, and called the partnership itself ideal for the team.

«They gave us incredible support and freedom to explore our vision, and you couldn’t ask for more from a publisher. We’re grateful for this opportunity and excited for what’s to come,” Hinerwall hinted.

Section 9 Interactive is working on a sci-fi action adventure with horror elements. The game is planned for release on PC and current consoles. The Gematsu portal has collected available footage from the project into one video (attached above).

Users were happy about the return of Section 9 Interactive (the last time the studio showed signs of life was in the summer of 2021), but complained that with Epic Games as a publisher, the release of the project on Steam could not be expected.
