As it became known, Dark Math Games has attracted additional funding from MM Grupp. The Estonian company was the majority investor in the studio ZA/UM, which released Disco Elysium in 2019.

The exact amount of MM Grupp’s investment in Dark Math Games has not been disclosed, but representatives of the London studio told GamesIndustry.biz that we are talking about a seven-figure amount (that is, more than a million).

Disco Elysium producer Kaur Kender, who was at the forefront of Dark Math Games, said: “The support of MM Grupp will bring stability and long-term prospects. We’ve done great things in the past and we’re confident we’ll do it again.”

Dark Math Games is working on a “true” detective RPG and a spiritual successor to Disco Elysium – XXX Nightshift. Events will unfold in 2086 at a ski resort in Antarctica, where patrol operative Dinora Katz is stuck.

They promise a deep single-player experience, multi-faceted gameplay, the impact of decisions on the story, a unique companion system and innovative role-playing mechanics. XXX Nightshift already has a Steam page, but no release date.

It is worth noting that Dark Math Games is one of the three studios of ex-developers of Disco Elysium in recent times. The other two are Longdue (making a “psychogeographical” RPG) and Summer Eternal (an RPG to match “our wretched and wonderful world”).
