Firaxis Games has reportedly hired popular Thai modder Sukrit Tanticharoenkiat, better known by his nickname Sukritact, to work on Sid Meier’s Civilization VII.

The studio announced Sukritact’s appointment as a technical artist at Firaxis on its Discord, dubbing the event the beginning of the “Sukritact era.” The modder himself later confirmed the employment.

Sukritact has made a name for himself in the community for his mods for games in the series, starting with Sid Meier’s Civilization V. His recent fixes to the Civilization VII interface, which the game has issues with, have been met with praise from fans on Reddit.

What exactly Sukritact will do at Firaxis is not specified, but fans are hoping for at least changes to the problematic interface of Civilization VII. “Sukritact will save us all!”, mockduckcompanion hopes.

At the same time, Sukritact will now have to work within a corporate structure, which may affect his ability to, firstly, release mods at all, and, secondly, quickly make changes to the game.

Sid Meier’s Civilization VII was released on February 4 on Steam (PC, Mac, Linux), EGS (PC), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch. This week, a major patch 1.1 was released for the game, including interface improvements.
