“Every revolution needs a hero”: the next Dota 2 fighter will be the samurai bird Kez

As part of the eSports tournament The International 2024, which took place on the eve of the grand final, not only the new owner of the champions’ aegis was determined, but also the announcement of the next hero for Dota 2 took place.

As it became known, the next fighter named Kez will be added to Dota 2 – this will happen with the start of the fourth act of the Crownfall story event. It is expected at the end of September.

Kez’s announcement at The International 2024 was accompanied by a cinematic trailer: The 52-second video (embedded below) contains no gameplay footage, but hints at the events of the fourth act of Fallen Crown.

«Every revolution needs a hero,” proclaims the announcement trailer. Kez is the leader of the Kazurai, an order of flightless feathered warriors bent on overthrowing the queen.

Kez is the same samurai bird that has been rumored to be added to Dota 2 for several months now. The character is armed with a sword and, judging by the trailer, has a high degree of mobility.

Kez will become the 126th Dota 2 hero

It is worth noting that Kez should become the second new Dota 2 hero in a short time. At the end of August, after almost ten months without news, the magical-mechanical carnival herald Ringmaster appeared in the game.

The International 2024 ended with the victory of Team Liquid (the second after 2017) – the winners will take with them 45% of the prize fund, which this time amounted to only $2.5 million (the worst figure in the last 11 years).
