Epic Games Sues Fortnite Cyber-Sports Player-Cheater, Takes Away His Prize Money, Bans Him Permanently, and Forces Him to Apologize to Everyone

Cheating in general and in eSports tournaments in particular does not lead to anything good. This was demonstrated by professional Fortnite player Morgan Bamford, better known as RepulseGod.

In order to qualify for the 2023 Fortnite World Cup (FNCS) finals, Bamford handed over his account to third parties, but the day before the decisive matches began, the player and his partner, nicknamed Jace, were disqualified.

As punishment for his actions, Epic Games sued Bamford, permanently banned him from participating in Fortnite tournaments, and donated his ill-gotten prize money to charity.

Apparently, Epic Games also forced Bamford to publicly apologize for what happened. The cheater did not have the courage to do it personally, so he limited himself to a 15-second text video.

«Cheating in tournaments ruins the fun for players who have earned their place in the competition. I apologize to the Fortnite community for my actions. I will never cheat in Fortnite again,” RepulseGod said.

RepulseGod has been competing in the professional Fortnite scene since 2019, winning multiple Duos and Trios tournaments, and placing second in the 2020 FNCS Invitational (Oceania) Finals.

Players were delighted with the actions of Epic Games. “If only all game developers would sue their cheaters and publicly condemn them, we would clean up this industry in six months,” says blogger Rod Breslau.
