Although the EA App gaming platform from Electronic Arts began operating in the fall of 2022, its predecessor, the Origin service, continued to function all this time. All good things (and not so good things), however, must come to an end.

The PC Gamer portal noticed that a warning appeared on the Electronic Arts website about the imminent end of support for Origin – the application will stop working on April 17, 2025, 14 years and three months after launch.
The decision was the result of Microsoft ceasing support for 32-bit systems in new versions of Windows 10 back in 2020. Five years later, this step will come back to haunt Origin users.

To maintain access to your account and associated games, Electronic Arts strongly recommends that Origin users migrate to the EA App – the new installer requires a 64-bit version of Windows.
Your account information and Origin digital library will be transferred to the EA App, although the publisher does not guarantee the safety of installed mods. The editors of PC Gamer also recommend that you enable cloud saves before starting the transfer.

Those who don’t own a device with a 64-bit operating system will thus soon be left broke, but Electronic Arts has a tip: “You’ll need a newer computer to play.”
EA claims that the EA App is faster, more reliable and more convenient than Origin. The launcher offers automatic downloads, background updates, and a universal list of friends from other platforms.
