Elden Ring Director Reveals How FromSoftware’s Nintendo Switch 2 Exclusive The Duskbloods Will Play

FromSoftware president and Elden Ring director Hidetaka Miyazaki shared details about the recently announced multiplayer action game The Duskbloods in a three-part interview with Nintendo.

The game’s events will unfold in different places and eras (Gothic, Victorian, industrial), where the Blood Oaths are called to fight for the First Blood – warriors who have received inhuman abilities thanks to special blood.

According to Miyazaki, even the basic actions of the Bloodsworn are more dramatic than those of characters from previous FromSoftware games. The developer promises more than ten heroes with the ability to customize their skills, appearance, and characteristics.

In their concept, the blood oath is similar to vampires, but not traditional ones, but romanticized ones.

Players select and customize their character in a central location, from where they head off to eight-player multiplayer matches. Upon returning from victory or defeat, users are rewarded.

How multiplayer matches work in The Duskbloods:

  • To complete a match, you need to complete the main goal – get First Blood. This may require, for example, defeating other players (PvP) or a boss (PvE);
  • Players in a match may have a personal goal, which is determined by the role of their hero – whether it is a “destined opponent” (to defeat an opponent) or a “destined companion” (to cooperate with a specific character);
  • During the matches, each participant is able to summon certain creatures to help him;
  • During matches, dynamic events can occur, such as the appearance of a huge stone face in the sky (changing the environment and rewards based on the results of the battle).

The character in the screenshot plays the role of the Fire Keepers from Dark Souls and is actually an “older gentleman”

According to Miyazaki, FromSoftware pitched the idea for The Duskbloods to Nintendo. The platform holder was “very interested,” and production began — initially for the original Switch.

The Duskbloods is set to release in 2026 exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2, promising fast-paced gameplay, “lots of new and interesting ideas,” deep character customization, and a fragmented narrative.
